An auction is being held to raise funds for a memorial to Tom Pryce, the only Welshman to win a Formula One race, in his home town of Ruthin.
Pryce was in his third year of Grand Prix racing when he was killed in a freak accident in South Africa in March 1977. He was behind the wheel of his racing car when a 19-year-old marshal ran across the track with a fire extinguisher. Unable to miss the marshal, he was struck on the head by the extinguisher. The marshal also died.
F1 fans are being invited to bid for a rare hospitality package at each of the nine European Grand Prix via a dedicated website created by the Tom Pryce Memorial Trust.
